Chrystine Ladeen Eggum

Chrystine L. Eggum, age 64, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at her home in Dennison, MN, surrounded by family after a long battle with early-onset Alzheimer's. 'Chrys' was born in Iola, KS, on June 26, 1961, the daughter of Donald and Lydia (Phillips) Paddock. The family relocated to Dennison for Donald's teaching career and Chrys graduated from Northfield High School; she attended Faibault Vo-Tech for secretarial school.

Chrys was united in marriage to Clyde Eggum on January 10, 1981, at the Dennison Lutheran Church. The couple honeymooned in Florida and the weather still managed to be cold; they traveled to Hawaii for their 25th anniversary and the climate was much better to the extent that she didn't want to come back home. They raised two boys on the family farm in Dennison and were very active as parents. Chrys and Clyde loved to travel by motorcycle to local fairs and go to Arizona and California to see family and friends. Chrys crocheted hats for babies and donated them to the local hospitals.

Chrys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to read, and was an all-in, all-kind person. Her proudest achievement was to be a wonderful, kind and funny mother and grandmother; she was able to dance at both of her sons weddings and appreciated every moment spent with her granddaughter, Kaia. She volunteered her time every year at the Dennison Days kids carnival as well as the famous Vang Lutheran Church lutefisk dinner.

Chrystine is survived by her husband of 45 years, Clyde Eggum; her boys, Andrew (Jenn) Eggum and Joseph (Dena Jensen) Eggum; granddaughter, Kaia Eggum; brother, Mark (Sandy) Paddock; nephews, Erick and Adam Paddock; as well as other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Irene; in-laws, Obert and Alice Eggum.

A Funeral Service for Chrystine will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28, at the Vang Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, from 4-7 PM at the Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield as well as one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at church from 10-11 AM. Interment will be held at Vang Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Bierman, Benson, & Langehough Funeral Home. www.northfieldfuneral.com
