The City of Dundas is aware of the Northfield Drinking Water Report. We recognize some of our residents may have questions about the levels of manganese in the drinking water in Dundas.
A safe level of manganese in the drinking water is 300 micrograms per liter (ug/L) or less for anyone over one year, a safe level for infants one year old and younger is 100 micrograms per liter (ug/L) or less. Dundas has two wells; manganese testing was done in July 2024. Well 1 tested at 76 ug/L, and Well 2 tested at 32 ug/L. Both results are under the state-recommended threshold for safe levels of manganese in tap water.
There has been no recommendation from the state for Dundas to take action or issue warnings based on our water testing.
Dundas has copies of the Drinking Water Report for previous years online, as well as at City Hall. If you have further questions, you can contact City Hall at 507-645-2852.
The Minnesota Department of Health also has information on Manganese in Drinking Water.
